Sixty applications. Almost no replies.
You've been applying for months. The few responses you get are templates. Nobody tells you why, so you fill in the blank yourself — usually with "my work isn't good enough."
That's rarely what's happening. Two other things usually are.
The first is that your CV is read by software before a human ever sees it. Nearly every large company screens applications through a tracking system now. You spent three months on the portfolio and forty minutes on the CV — and the CV is the gate that runs first.
The second is that you're applying as three people at once. The market has fragmented: product designer, UX researcher, design systems, AI-native product work. These want different evidence. Materials aimed at all of them read as generic to each of them.
Neither is a craft problem. Both are positioning problems — and positioning is fixable in an afternoon, once someone tells you honestly what they see.
How it works
Before: you send your CV, your portfolio or LinkedIn, and two or three real job posts you'd apply for. I read all of it the way I read it at work — quickly, sceptically, looking for a reason to say no. That's not cruelty. That's the actual conditions.
During (60 minutes): we settle what you're positioning as, then check whether your materials argue for it. I'll show you where a screener stops reading, which case study is carrying you and which one is costing you, and where you're describing what you did instead of what changed because you did it.
After (within 48 hours): written takeaways. The position we landed on, the specific edits in priority order, and the one thing to fix before your next application.
Why me
Most people offering this are coaches describing the hiring process from outside it. I'm a design manager. I read CVs and portfolios as part of my job, and I've sat in the calibration conversations where candidates get cut. I can tell you what actually happens to your application, not what the internet thinks happens.
I also have a master's in psychology, which matters more here than it sounds. Months of silence does something to people. It makes materials more defensive, applications more scattered, and the story you tell about yourself smaller. Part of this hour is separating the market's signal from what the rejection has done to your read on yourself.
